I've spent the last 3 days arguing with assholes and shysters out to screw whoever they can for the smallest amounts of money, and I don't believe in karma so I don't even have the satisfaction of believing they'll get their own in the end. There are a lot of rotten people out there and they'll be rotten their whole lives and that will be that. The best I can do is never be like them, and while they lie and cheat I'm just going to stand there and play my accordian. So there.

My Bird Friend

It's nearly 6 pm and I was supposed to be at a friend's bbq 3 hours ago - but moments to myself are so few and far between...I've been nearing the point of obsession lately with wanting to do my own thing and I think my poor children are suffering from it. This morning my 5 year old told me that there was no one he loved more in the whole world than his best friend, and why shouldn't he? His friend will always play hide and go seek with him when he asks, and not say he needs to have some quality drawing time.

I'm Sticking with You Cause I'm Made Out of Glue

As a mother of an 11 month old who insists on feeding herself, my first idea for Illustration Friday was of course, a baby eating food, but one of my favorite illustrators beat me to it. Then I thought of that song that I like, but wasn't in the mood to try and draw a glue person. I've been drawing a lot of kids lately.

p.s. Recently, Life of Pi author Yann Martel held a contest for an illustrator for a reissue of his book. He commented that it was sad that publishers didn't publish illustrated books for adults. Now that he said that I can't get the idea out of my head...if I ever win the lottery I'm starting a book publishing company. I'd better start buying tickets.
